Volvo, Amazon launch in-car delivery

Volvo has partnered with Amazon to bring in-car delivery of packages to customers throughout the United States.

The service is available across 37 cities in the U.S. with more locations to come over time. It’s a part of Volvo’s in-car On Call service platform and as an app on any smartphone.

The service is can be download by customers connecting the Amazon Key app and linking it to their Amazon account through the Volvo On Call account. Customers can shop online at Amazon and select “In-Car” delivery at the checkout.

The Amazon Key and Volvo On Call notify customers with the delivery is going to happen. Volvo asks users to park within range of their delivery address so the driver and deliver the package during the scheduled time.

“Simplifying the customer experience is central to Volvo’s digital vision. Receiving a package securely and reliably in your car, without you having to be there, is something we think many people will appreciate. This mix of car and commerce is starting the next wave of innovation and we intend to be at the forefront,” said Atif Rafiq, chief digital officer at Volvo Cars.

“We’re excited to partner with Volvo Cars to bring Amazon Key in-car delivery to our customers across the U.S. Starting today, Prime members can order tens of millions of items sold on and have them delivered to their car, at no extra cost,” said Peter Larsen, vice president of delivery technology at Amazon.
