Carparts family in northern U.S. grows bigger

Carparts Distribution Center, a New England-based chain of parts stores, has acquired Motor Supply Company, effective April 1, 2019

This acquisition will bring nine new stores to Carparts’ operations.

Motor Supply, a long-time customer of Carparts, has been owned and operated in Central Maine by the York family for more than 40 years. The acquisition will cause minimal interruptions in product offerings, said Stan Lewis, president of Carparts Distribution Center.

“It is a great fit between the two companies,” said Lewis. “Both companies have long-term employees, great reputations in the marketplace, and knowledgeable people. We look forward to combining the strengths of the companies and moving forward for the long term.”

Carparts is headquartered in Plaistow, N.H., and services Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Connecticut. Motor Supply’s nine stores will strengthen the company’s base in Maine, bringing the total number of stores to 21 company stores employing 270 people.

“The York family is excited about joining forces with Carparts and we look forward to carrying on the Motor Supply tradition of offering great customer service to the people of Maine,” said Bob York, president of the Motor Supply Company.
