Michelin Retread Technologies Expands In Canada

Michelin Retread Technologies (Canada) Inc.has added Canadian Treads as its fifth MRT franchise in Canada. Through its Edmonton facility, Canadian Treads will begin operations of a Michelin Pre-MoldTM retread plant before the end of 2004. This latest addition expands the existing MRT North American network.

This affiliation will allow us to service customers wanting Michelin quality and technology in retreaded truck tires,” says Guy Pekle, President of Michelin Retread Technologies (Canada) Inc. “The demand for MRT products in Western Canada is high. With this addition, we are now better positioned to serve our customers’ needs.”
David McAmmond, President of Canadian Treads, confirms, “We are enthusiastic to join forces with MRT. MRT products and the unique MRT process will bring
significant cost saving benefits to truck operators in Western Canada. This gives Canadian Treads and its dealer network the opportunity to provide increased value to the customer.”
2004 has been a year of growth for MRT. Most recently, the company expanded its Covington, Georgia (USA) manufacturing facility as part of its plan to meet
continued customer demand. MRT also added Evansville, Indiana (USA) -based Raben Tire and Hungerford, Texas (USA) -based Strouhal Tire, Inc. to the company’s growing list of retread franchises. Michelin continues to focus on
the independent dealer and franchises in its continued growth of MRT. There are now more than 230 points of sale in North America for MichelinR retreads.
MRT treads are built with Michelin proprietary tread rubber compounds and designs, which allow the retread to mirror new MichelinR tire aspects and performance.
With its Canadian headquarters in Laval, Quebec, Michelin North America (Canada) Inc.(www.michelin.ca) employs approximately 4,500 and operates 4 plants.
