LexisNexis Risk Solutions has launched a new service designed to track down the owners of vehicles with safety-related recalls.
Recall Clarity is designed to enable identification, location, and notifications to current owners.
LexisNexis Risk Solutions says the service will address the ubiquity of recalls. There were more than 1,000 recalls issued in 2018, impacting more than 35 million U.S. motorists.
It combines propriety linking technology with unique identifier LexID to help customer outreach teams identify, locate and contact the right owner of even hard to find recalled vehicles. This is currently a considerable challenge given that over 40 million used cars are sold in the U.S. every year, more than 45 million people move each year, and there are an estimated 57 million unrepaired vehicles currently on the road.
In the event of a recall, customer outreach teams are tasked with getting vehicles repaired by finding recalled vehicle owners and leading them to the dealership for service. This process has become increasingly more difficult due to changes in vehicle ownership on secondary markets. With more than 40 million used cars sold in the U.S. each year, compounded by the fact that more than 45 million people move each year, the need for an efficient way of notifying the owner of a recall, which in some cases can be life-threatening, is crucial.
By being able to expedite the entire process with accuracy, Recall Clarity helps dealers and automakers with their ongoing efforts to maintain safer roads.
