GM to Reveal Its New Equinox Model

General Motors revealed details surrounding its redesigned 2010 Chevrolet Equinox crossover SUV set to debut at North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month.

The 2.4-litre, four-cylinder model is expected to get 30 miles per gallon on the highway and 21 mpg in the city – a 25 per cent improvement over the previous model. A direct-injection engine offered on the 2010 Equinox model puts fuel directly into the engine’s cylinder, rather than mixing it with air first, making the engine more powerful and efficient.

“The 2010 Equinox also has an electric power steering system that improves fuel efficiency enough to give drivers an extra 15 kilometres on each tank of gas,” said GM. “The new exterior adds other fuel-efficiency improvements, including a windshield whose base is about three inches farther forward for a sleeker profile.”
