Clevite Engine Builder Showdown To Air On Speed Channel

The Clevite Engine Builder Challenge, which pitted NASCAR engine builders against each other in timed competition, is set to air on Speed Channel.
On July 18, Speed Channel will broadcast a special one-hour program completely dedicated to the 2004 Clevite Engine Builder Showdown. Scheduled airtime is 8:00PM EST.
Viewers can tune in as Mike Maiwald of Hendrick Motorsports, engine builder for the #24 car of Jeff Gordon, competes against Lanny Barnes of Richard Childress Racing, engine builder for the #21 car of Kevin Harvick. The first engine builder to assemble his engine and let it run for one consecutive minute will be crowned the winner.
Serving as celebrity commentators for the final round were Richard Childress of Richard Childress Racing, and Chad Knaus, crew chief of Jimmie Johnson’s #48 car.
Every year, 16 of NASCAR’s top engine builders participate in this exceptional and unique event. A panel of expert judges chose the "Sweet 16" based on their reputation for being the finest engine builders within NASCAR. The competition has a total prize package worth more than $50,000 and has become one of the premier honours in the world of engine building.
