In CARFAX’s latest reliability rankings, the company identified the top three models in the car, SUV and truck categories using billions of vehicle records to estimate the likelihood of unexpected repairs over the next year.
For cars, the Kia Rio, Mitsubishi Mirage G4 and Toyota Camry each posted an estimated repair likelihood of about two per cent, compared with the average of 5.5 per cent.
In SUVs, the Honda CR‑V, Kia Sportage and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross recorded repair likelihoods under 2.5 per cent, well below the 7.8 per cent average.
The Ford Ranger, Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma led the truck category, each with estimated repair likelihoods under four per cent versus the 9.1 per cent average.
CARFAX found smaller, less complex vehicles tended to show fewer unexpected repairs. The rankings cover model years 2019 to 2023, a core part of today’s used‑vehicle inventory.
CARFAX has added future reliability insights to its reports and listings, using VIN‑specific data to estimate potential repairs over the next three years. The added data helps buyers anticipate how a vehicle may perform over time and what repairs they might face.
