On April 30, more than 100 members of the Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada from across the country attended the Association’s 72nd Annual General Meeting at the Toronto Hilton Airport Hotel & Suites, bookended by AIA Committee and Council meetings.
At the AGM, Robert Pitt (Specialty Sales & Marketing) was voted in as Chairman of the Board and Doug Reevey (Autotec Inc.) was named the Second Vice Chair. The membership also approved the appointment of Jason Best (Spectra Premium Industries Inc.), Jeff VandeSande (Bestbuy Distributors Ltd.), and Dave Fifield (Wakefield Canada Inc.) as Directors at Large on the AIA Board.
Following the business of the meeting, AIA held its Volunteer Recognition Luncheon and presented two of the Association’s most prestigious awards – Ezer Mevorach (Mevotech Inc.) was awarded AIA’s Distinguished Service Award, and Miguel Angers (Uni-Select) was awarded the Young Executive Society’s Young Leader of the Year Award.
AIA also took the opportunity to thank Robert Hattem (UAP Inc.) for his service to the membership as Chairman of the Board, and recognized John MacDonald (Ideal Supply Ltd.), Andrew Davies (Canadian Tire Corp.), Bob MacDonald (Wakefield Canada Inc.), and Doug Reevey (Autotec Inc.) whose terms with the Board ended.
“I am excited to welcome our new Chairman and our new Directors into their new positions and to work with them to best benefit our membership in the coming year,“ said Marc Brazeau, president and CEO, AIA Canada. “I would also like to personally thank all of our retiring directors for their invaluable contributions to the Board and to the Association.”
For the first time ever, AIA’s Annual General Meeting was broadcasted live via webconference with great success. Those who missed the event can still watch the webconference on AIA’s website, and all are invited to check our Facebook page in the coming days for photos from the event.
