Electric vehicle charging infrastructure is set to expand significantly with new initiatives from a pair of companies.

Papillons Infrastructure Nature, the operator of the EcoCharge IGA network, announced an addition of 20 new locations and 80 new charging ports, bringing the network to a total of 182 ports across 71 sites.

Each of the 20 new EcoCharge IGA sites will offer a charging capacity of up to 200kW and support charging for up to four vehicles simultaneously.

It noted that In 2025, plans are underway to double the power and the number of charging ports at more than 10 of the 51 sites currently in operation.

In a similar effort to expand EV charging infrastructure, ChargePoint has announced an agreement with AAA to become a preferred supplier, making ChargePoint chargers and services available to AAA/CAA clubs and their service providers at preferred pricing.

This collaboration aims to expand the reach of EV charging infrastructure to ensure all drivers who need to charge are able to do so, the company said.

“ChargePoint is committed to enabling more charging, wherever drivers need it,” said David Vice, Chief Revenue Officer at ChargePoint. “By collaborating with AAA, we now offer solutions AAA clubs and service providers can depend on for reliable EV charging at preferred pricing.”

The offers will be available to more than 12,000 service providers representing 27 AAA/CAA clubs across the US and Canada. These entities include towing service providers, automotive repair companies and similar small businesses with a need for EV charging.

Offerings extend to support packages for existing ChargePoint charging stations owned by clubs and service providers.

“AAA’s first priority is serving our members,” said Bob Huffman, director of roadside programs and benefits for AAA. “By working with ChargePoint, we are able to provide resources and services to our clubs and service providers, so they are able to best assist our members when they need us most.”
