On July 10, Subaru Canada Inc. donated a 2000 Outback sport-utility wagon to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), giving technicians in the institute’s Transportation Department hands-on access to the latest Subaru equipment and technology. In return, SAIT provided Subaru with a much-needed instructor to assist in training Subaru dealership service technicians in Calgary and Vancouver. The instructor, Todd Green, a Content Specialist in SAIT’s Automotive Service Technician Individual Learning Module Project, will take over core technical training of dealership technicians, leaving Subaru personnel free to concentrate on introducing the latest technology, such as the new six-cylinder engine. “Subaru is just delighted to be able to make this exchange with SAIT – it’s an arrangement where everybody wins,” said Alan Acheson, SCI’s manager of After Sales Development. “With the number of new Subaru products coming to market in a relatively short time, our own training department is very stretched. To be able to call on a highly-qualified instructor from such a respected teaching institution is a wonderful resource; we think it’s an excellent learning opportunity for everyone.”
