A team of researchers, headed by scientists at the Saskatchewan Research Council, have developed a number of products utilizing intelligent control systems technology to enable fuel cell and natural gas vehicles to be cost-competitive with conventional fuels, be more efficient, and reduce greenhouse gases. Two pickup trucks were converted to natural gas utilizing a neural control system and five prototype electronic regulators were developed for hydrogen applications at 350 bar (5000 psi). The diagnostic technology was developed and tested in the lab then installed in a prototype microprocessor for demonstrating to the automotive industry. The project has been made possible with funding from Precarn Incorporated, Natural Resources Canada, the Climate Change Action Fund, and the NGV Development Fund.
