CASCAR AND CARQUEST announce 2004 CARQUEST Series

CASCAR and CARQUEST have announced that the CARQUEST Series will once again run a touring series schedule in 2004. The series will consist of eight races in total, with four events being run in combination with Super Series events, and four stand-alone events.

While further details on the series regarding schedule and race purses will be announced in the coming weeks, an increase to the season points fund from $40,000.00 to $50,000.00 has already been confirmed. Competitors who qualify for a CARQUEST Series race will also be assured of receiving substantial purse money for starting the event. Teams will not be required to bear any increased CASCAR membership costs to compete in the series.

“We are very excited to continue our long association with CASCAR, and to continue to provide a high calibre touring series for competitors in Eastern Canada”, stated Michel Rondeau, Director of Marketing for CARQUEST CANADA LTD. “We will be going to new markets in 2004, have an increased points fund in place, and solid race purses. We feel that this will be an excellent series for top Canadian competitors to showcase their abilities, and to compete with other drivers from around Ontario and Quebec”.

The 2004 CARQUEST Series will continue to run events at some tracks that have traditionally been part of the schedule, as well as adding new venues to the Championship. Some minor rule changes can be expected, including the use of radios being allowed. Plans to make it easier for CARQUEST Series competitors to compete in select Super Series events are also being evaluated.
