A pro-aftermarket slogan will soon be racing past the grandstands at 200 miles an hour.
The “Your Car. Your Data. Your Choice” consumer campaign will be a co-sponsor of the Clay Millican-driven Top Fuel Dragster at upcoming NHRA races.
The campaign, designed to teach consumers that they have a choice who get their telematics data, is an initiative of the Maryland-based Auto Care Association, the U.S. counterpart to Canada’s Automotive Industries Association.
Using the same technology that newer model cars today are equipped with, Millican’s dragster will send real-time, wireless transmission of data to the crew chief Mike Kloeber to identify and solve potential problems in real time, which allows Millican to shave crucial milliseconds.
“Just as my team and I need to see every data point my car is feeding us while on the track, car owners should be able to access similar information for their street car, and be able to share that data with the trusted crew chief in their life,” says Tennesee-native, Clay Millican.
