The Canadian national finals were held at the Montreal Science Centre, with nearly 200 automotive industry representatives, suppliers and partners watching.
The seven finalists had previously won the Regional Finals that took place last fall across Canada. This year, they participated in customer service tests, repair and replacement of windshields and side glass followed by a written general knowledge test.
Cox was crowned the winner following the jury’s deliberations.
“It means a lot to me to have been recognized as the best automotive technician for Belron Canada,” he said. “My colleagues and I are very fortunate to receive such a high level of training to perfect our skills. The competition was tight, but I’m very proud of the results and very excited to represent Canada at the international competition.”
Ralph Hosker, president of Belron Canada said technician training is a high priority for the company.
“If we invest in the development of our employees, it’s because our customers deserve the best service, with the utmost precision and impeccable quality, because their safety is our top priority,” he said. “It’s also because we believe in our employees and hope they can develop the best of their abilities and achieve excellence.”
