WORLDPAC’s Bob Cushing named Advance’s new VP of commercial business

WORLDPAC president Bob Cushing, has been promoted to a newly created position of executive vice president of commercial business at parent company Advance Auto Parts.

WORLDPAC had been part of Raleigh-based General Parts International before it was acquired by Advance Auto in 2014.

Cushing’s promotion was announced last week by Advance Auto Parts CEO Tom Greco, during a conference call with investors and analysts.

About 60 percent of Advance Auto Parts sales are with commercial customers, such as auto repair shops, but its commercial business has been split between its brands under the Advance Auto Parts, Carquest and WORLDPAC distribution channels.

Cushing will oversee all of the company’s commercial operations and report to Greco.

Greco, who was hired in April, said he expects to have a fully-vetted, new five-year strategic plan ready to present to his board by November.

Advance Auto Parts, which has its major operations center in Raleigh, has a total of 5,192 stores and branches.
