Worldpac to open first automated distribution centre in Georgia

Worldpac will open its first automated distribution centre in Forest Park, Ga., in 2027, adding more than 250,000 square feet of distribution space compared with its existing facility in Norcross.

The 413,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2027 and will use AutoStore robotic storage and retrieval technology. The company expects the facility to create more than 150 jobs, with the first customer shipments planned for spring 2027.

The distribution centre will support Worldpac branches and customers throughout the southeastern United States and surrounding markets.

Worldpac said the AutoStore system uses robotics to store, retrieve and process inventory within a storage grid. Instead of employees travelling through warehouse aisles to locate parts, the system automatically delivers inventory to workstations for picking, replenishment and processing.

“We are excited to expand Worldpac’s distribution presence in the Atlanta metro market and strengthen our ability to serve customers throughout the Southeastern United States. The Forest Park facility represents a major step forward in our use of robotics and automation, helping us improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency,” said Rich Tannenbaum, chief operating officer of Worldpac.

The new facility will be located at 2160 Anvil Block Road in Forest Park, about 28 miles from Worldpac’s current Norcross distribution centre and eight miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
