At the expiration of the four-year master labour agreement between American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. and the UAW at 11:59 p.m., February 25, 2008, the UAW elected to implement a work stoppage.
The expiring master agreement covered approximately 3,650 associates at five facilities in Michigan and New York.
“It is unfortunate that a market competitive labour agreement for AAM’s original U.S. locations could not be reached,” said AAM Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO Richard E. Dauch.
“We look forward to continued negotiations with the UAW to resolve these most pressing labour and economic matters.”
