The AAM Group has created a memorial page for Ed Coates, and will assemble the contributions in book form for the Coates family .
“We were saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Ed Coates on February 17th. AAM will remember Ed as a strong leader whose vision and drive built a dynamic company that came to dominate in Western Canada in just 40 years,” said a statemetn from the group. “Ed and Lordco have been significant contributors to AAM. Ed served as an AAM Board member from 2008 to 2014. Lordco won AAM’s first ever prestigious Member of the Year award in 2011.
“Ed touched so many people at a personal level. He had 1500 employees and he took great pride that he knew them all by name (and most of their spouses and many of their children). He personally knew his customers, literally taking thousands of them on trips over the years and spending time with them at exotic locations all over the world.
“The aftermarket lost a strong leader whose efforts demonstrated that retail store chains can successfully merchandise and sell SEMA market accessories. AAM and our SEMA aftermarket vendors will long miss Ed Coates.”
“Many AAM members and vendors expressed a desire to send their regards to the family. To that end AAM creates a web page where individuals can leave their thoughts and memories for the Coates family. These may be left at; http://www.theaamgroup.com/ed-coates/ “
AAM will collect all of the contributions to the web page and print them in book form, giving them to the family later this year.
