Tenneco Honored as Vehicle Dynamics…

Tenneco Honored as Vehicle Dynamics International ‘Supplier of the Year’

Tenneco has been awarded the prestigious ‘Supplier of the Year’ award from Vehicle Dynamics International magazine, which recognizes outstanding achievement in global automotive suspension and chassis engineering. Tenneco received the award for its Kinetic H2/CES Semi-Active Suspension system, which recently debuted on the McLaren MP4-12C.

Tenneco’s Kinetic technology combines advanced mechanical and hydraulic systems with intelligent electronics, leading to a new suspension concept that improves vehicle dynamics, compared with other active anti-roll systems available on the market today.

“We’re proud to be recognized by Vehicle Dynamics International for our innovation in suspension technology,” said Gregg Sherrill, chairman and CEO, Tenneco. “Our lightweight Kinetic H2/CES suspension system satisfies the most demanding customers and consumers by successfully balancing the compromise between performance, comfort, ride and handling, while also responding to customer requirements for active safety and reduced weight.”

Awards judge and British vehicle dynamicist Simon Newton, said: “Tenneco impresses me in the way that it converts systems prevalent in motorsport to wider road applications. CES is also significant in bringing semi-active dampers to the wider market.”

Building on the success of its Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension or CES, Tenneco’s Kinetic H2/CES suspension combines outstanding performance, handling and stability, with driver selectable comfort for everyday use. The Kinetic H2/CES system is well-suited for a range of vehicles from crossovers through SUVs and limousines to supercars with its hydraulically interconnected dampers that respond to road conditions and driver preferences. Adjustable roll control allows a vehicle to maintain precise handling under heavy cornering while decoupling the suspension in a straight line for excellent wheel articulation.

The Kinetic H2/CES system was developed at Tenneco’s global ride control engineering centre in Belgium and is produced at the company’s manufacturing facilities in Belgium and Spain.
