DesRosiers Automotive Consulting reports strong retail sales of automotive parts and accessories in the first quarter of 2019.

According to the data consulting firm, sales at parts and tire stores are up. It is the first time since 2010 that the sector has reported over $2 billion in sales for the first quarter of the year.

“This represents a continued upward trend for the sector as it grew 6.1% over Q1 2018 which was 11.3% ahead of Q1 2017.”

In all, DesRosiers says it has been a positive year-to-date for the entire auto sector, excluding gas sales which fell 6.5% due to a decrease in gas costs.

New cars dealers overall retail sales are up 2.4%.

“Of particular note was retail activity at used car dealers, which produced exceptional results over Q1 2018 with an 11.5% increase at a total of $2.84 billion.”
