McLaren Performance Technologies has acquired Dart Machine, Ltd., a specialty manufacturer of precision powertrain components for original equipment applications and the automotive aftermarket.
Based in Oldcastle, Ont., Dart Machine, Ltd. has been renamed McLaren Performance Products and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of McLaren Performance Technologies. McLaren previously created such memorable specialty vehicles as the Buick GNX and the Pontiac GTP Turbo. It is projected that McLaren Performance Products will add $7 million U.S. revenue in year one.
The former Dart is known for producing quality cylinder heads in cast iron and aluminum, engine blocks and differential housings and will provide the Livonia-based engineering firm with cross-border cost efficiencies. Synergies are expected to be extensive. Dart Machine’s previous management will remain intact, with Geoff Owen serving as vice-president and general manager. Sam Cocca will also continue in his role as controller.
