Mazda Sells Reman Facility to Delco-Remy

Mazda North American Operations today announced the signing of a definitive agreement for the sale of its North American remanufacturing business to a subsidiary of Delco Remy International.
The business, which is located in Jacksonville, Fla., and is responsible for the remanufacturing of Mazda automatic transmissions, transaxles and rotary engines, has approximately 70 employees. “This transaction is the right thing for Mazda and for Delco Remy International,” said Robert Davis, vice president of product strategy and development for Mazda North American Operations, “because it forms a strategic alliance between our two companies and ensures that we continue to receive the highest quality remanufactured components.”
The Jacksonville employees will become employees of Delco Remy when the transaction closes. “From the standpoint of these employees, their families and our customers, we’re trying to make the transition as seamless as possible,” Davis said. As part of the sale, Delco Remy will acquire all of the assets of the Jacksonville facility and will continue to remanufacture automatic transmissions, transaxles and rotary engines.
