Kigen has received GSMA eUICC Security Assurance (eSA) certification for its automotive eSIM, becoming the first company to offer an eSA-certified eSIM supporting GSMA’s SGP.32 v1.3 IoT eSIM specification.
The company said the certification combines its eSIM operating system with Infineon’s TEGRION SLI22 automotive security controller, providing automakers and Tier 1 suppliers with a platform designed for connected vehicles with long service lives.
According to Kigen, the certification supports new SGP.32 v1.3 features including emergency profile support, digital activation codes and profile download options intended for connected vehicle applications. The company said the platform is designed to support telematics, infotainment and other vehicle connectivity systems using a common architecture.
The automotive eSIM is certified across Infineon’s TEGRION SLx22 chip family, which also includes consumer and industrial IoT products using the same operating system and development tools.
Kigen said automotive eSIM samples will be available to OEMs beginning in October.
Context paragraph before quote:
The company said long vehicle lifecycles are increasing demand for connectivity systems that can remain secure and manageable over many years.
“Vehicles are becoming long-lived software platforms, so their connectivity trust anchor must remain secure and manageable long after production,” said Vincent Korstanje, CEO of Kigen.
I think this is a stronger ASW brief than the Variablegrid story because it’s tied to a first-in-industry certification and a widely used connected-vehicle technology standard.
