GM of Canada has announced plans to offer two new small car entries to its portfolio in 2005. The all-new Chevrolet Cobalt and the Pontiac Pursuit is intended to grow GM of Canada’s share in the premium small car market.
“We think the new names are a perfect fit for these two exciting cars,” said Donna Martin, marketing manager for small and sporty cars at GM of Canada. “Cobalt is associated with power, strength and dependability, while Pursuit associates with performance, adventure and excitement. These new cars will add to the already impressive lineup of GM small cars including the Aveo, Optra, Malibu, Malibu Maxx and Epica.”
Both Cobalt and Pursuit will be built on GM’s new Delta Architecture and will feature clean, contemporary designs, spacious interiors and excellent dynamic performance. Both will appeal to consumers who want the size and efficiency of a small car, but with desirable features, better performance and an upscale look and feel.
“The small car segment is key for GM of Canada,” continued Martin. “The performance, handling and contemporary design of the Cobalt and Pursuit will expand our market leadership in this critical segment.”
The Chevrolet Cobalt will be available in coupe and sedan models in 2005 along with the Pontiac Pursuit sedan. The Pursuit coupe model will follow in the 2006 model year. Both Cobalt and Pursuit will be built at GM’s Lordstown, Ohio, assembly centre.
