Ford water pump class action expanded…

Ford water pump class action expanded to include newer claims

An Ontario court has expanded a class action lawsuit involving water pump failures in certain Ford and Lincoln vehicles to include owners and lessees who experienced water pump-related damage on or before Sept. 8, 2026.

According to Koskie Minsky LLP, the action now covers Canadian owners and lessees whose vehicles sustained damage, or damage and personal injury, resulting from water pump failures. The lawsuit was originally certified in 2021 and has since been expanded multiple times. The latest decision extends eligibility from May 30, 2024 to Sept. 8, 2026.

The affected vehicles include certain Ford Edge, Explorer, Flex, Taurus and Police Interceptor models, as well as Lincoln MKS, MKT, MKX, MKZ and Continental vehicles equipped with the water pump design at issue.

According to the law firm, individuals who meet the class definition are automatically included in the action. Owners or lessees whose water pump failed between May 30, 2024 and Sept. 8, 2026 must opt out by Jan. 6, 2027 if they do not wish to participate.
