Ford recalling trucks over door problem

About 1.3 million Ford trucks in North America are being recalled due to an issue with side doors.

The recall affects Ford F-150s from the 2015-2017 model years and 2017 Super Duty vehicles. There are about 222,408 of these vehicles in Canada.

The issue is with a frozen door latch or bent or kinked actuation cable may cause a door to not open or close. Someone who opens and closes the doors may think that the door is indeed closed, but the latch may not be fully engaged. The door could open while driving, causing potential injury.

A water shield needs to be installed over door latches along with an inspection and, if needed, repair to the door latch actuation cables.

Ford is not aware of any injuries or accidents related to the problem.
