Honda Canada begins production of new 2006 Civic at its Canadian plant

The first new 2006 Honda Civic rolled off the assembly line of the Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) plant in Alliston, Ontario on October 3rd. All Civic Coupe and Civic Si models for the global market will be manufactured exclusively at the HCM facility. Civic Sedan models for the Canadian market will also be produced at the Ontario plant. “Honda in Canada began with the Civic,” said Hiroshi Kobayashi, president and chief executive officer, Honda Canada, Inc. “Our time in Canada has been one of steady growth and great opportunity.”

Honda was the first Japanese carmaker to manufacture passenger vehicles in Canada and is now the country’s third largest vehicle manufacturer. HCM sources more than $2 billion annually in goods from Canadian suppliers.
