EnerSys rolls out Odyssey batteries

EnerSys has released the Odyssey battery. This drycell battery utilizes a thin-plate-pure-lead (TPPL) technology that allows a single battery configuration to provide two essential performance characteristics – maximum cranking power and true 400 deep cycles to 80 per cent depth of discharge.

The battery provides 680 cranking amps for five seconds and offers 24 reverse minutes. It weighs 16 pounds and can start a 5.7-litre, V-8 engine. Additionally, the Odyssey battery provides 1,500 cranking amps for five seconds and 135 reserve minutes. EnerSys
