Carguide/Globe and Mail Best Buy Vehicles Announced

13 vehicles were designated Canada’s best automotive buys at the 2003 Carguide/ Globe and Mail Best Buy Awards on October 3. Awards honour vehicle models that were on the roads in 2002. Nine thousand readers of Carguide magazine and The Globe and Mail voted on the winners based on criteria including standard equipment level, engine power, fuel economy and cost. The winners were announced at a special event in Toronto and awards were given in 12 vehicle categories plus the prestigious People’s Choice Award.

The winners were:

Economy Car — Toyota Echo

Wagon — Mazda Protege5

Compact Car — Nissan Sentra SE-R

Minivan — Dodge Grand Caravan

Family Car — Nissan Altima SE

Sports-Utility — GMC Envoy SLT

Luxury Car — Jaguar X-Type

Compact-Ute — Honda CR-V EX

Prestige Car — Lexus SC430

Pickup — Dodge Ram Quad Cab SLT

Performance Sedan — BMW 330i

Sports/GT — Chevrolet Corvette

People’s Choice — Honda Odyssey
