ETI releases two new studies

ETI releases two new studies

The Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) has completed a detailed marketing research study on Information Access and Flash Reprogramming.

The study looked at what information resources technicians are using in the repair of vehicles and how they are using the information. It is now available for purchase, at a price of $9.95 for members and $695 for non-members.

The Flash Reprogramming study looks at the market’s current level of familiarity with flash reprogramming and evaluates the market’s use of and experiences with it, as well as future expectations. The survey also identifies key issues and obstacles in successfully implementing and operating flash reprogramming.

Topics include shop profiles and demographics, training, and reprogramming difficulties, such as software set-up problems and tech support.

The Aftermarket Service Information study determines what information sources shops are using now and why. Also, if shops are not using direct OEM information sources, why not? The survey considers what roles new software and hardware technologies will play in the future.

Topics include shop demographics, online vs print and DVD-based information and whether information is accessed through tablet or PC computers, and also issues regarding service subscription companies.

The Marengo, Ill.-based trade association also surveyed the automotive repair shops to determine their familiarity with and their use of flash reprogramming tools as well as any new information involved with flash reprogramming.

According to ETI, both research studies have proven helpful and enlightening at ToolTech 2013.

Complete studies including spreadsheets, PowerPoints and documents are included in these studies.

ETI uses this research to help all segments of the automotive industry provide aftermarket shops with better tools, equipment, products, and information solutions.

Previous market research studies have included:
  *  J2534 Reprogramming ’09
  *  J2534 Update
  *  TPMS
  *  Telematics
  *  Collision Repair
  *  Air Conditioning Service
  *  Hybrid and Battery Service
