Federal-Mogul Corporation has been named Supplier of the Year for 2001 by Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, Inc.
Federal-Mogul was chosen for the top award in voting by the 58 independent parts distributors who are members of the Alliance in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It won the award by earning the highest cumulative score in eight categories of supplier performance, encompassing installer and retail promotions, shipping, marketing support, training, personnel, private-label manufacturing and remanufacturing.
“We are pleased to present the first Supplier of the Year award to our largest supplier, Federal-Mogul, which has been a valued partner to our members for many years,” said Richard H. Morgan, president and chief executive officer of Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance. “This award is special because it is chosen by our shareholders — the distributors who provide aftermarket products to 3,608 parts stores and 2,002 service centers across North America. It’s a great testimony to Federal-Mogul’s performance that our members view the company so favorably.”
The award was presented at the annual winter meeting of Alliance members in Miami, Florida. Accepting for Federal-Mogul were Chip McClure, president and chief operating officer; Joseph Felicelli, senior vice president, worldwide aftermarket operations; Bob Egan, vice-president, aftermarket sales – the Americas; and Roy Kent, director of program distribution.
“This is a tremendously meaningful honor for Federal-Mogul,” McClure said. “To be chosen as the best overall supplier by 58 key warehouse distributors, representing more than $3 billion (U.S.) in combined annual sales, speaks volumes about the fundamental strength of our company and the commitment to meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations."
“Our ability to deliver high-quality parts, representing some of the industry’s best-known brands, to distributors across North America is a key factor in this recognition, but it’s only part of the equation,” Egan said.
Alliance members also selected Federal-Mogul as the 2001 Vendor of the Year in the training support category. This award acknowledges the strength and breadth of Federal-Mogul’s training programs at the warehouse, distributor and installer levels. Federal-Mogul’s training support encompasses both hands-on and Web-based instruction.
