DELPHI GIVES CUSTOMERS “WINNING”…

DELPHI GIVES CUSTOMERS “WINNING” EXPERIENCE AT CHARLOTTE ALL-STAR RACE

Troy, MI — Delphi recently hosted customers who won its 2010 Thermal Promotion for a full-day event during the All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. on May 22, 2010. Guests watched the race from reserved grandstand seats with views of the front stretch and pit area, as well as received Visa gift cards, pit passes, race program booklets, Delphi-branded merchandise and 25 percent discounts at the Hendrick team store.
The event had guests start the day at Hendrick Motorsports headquarters, a short drive from the Speedway, to attend a pre-race meet-and-greet with Alan Gustafson, crew chief of the No. 5 Delphi Chevrolet. In addition to answering questions, Gustafson autographed tickets, programs, hats and T-shirts, and posed for pictures with guests in front of the Delphi race car.
“Giving our customers the opportunity to go behind the scenes is always a lot of fun,” said Malcolm Sissmore, vice president, sales, North America, Delphi Product & Service Solutions. “Seeing the smiles on their faces and getting to know them better one-on-one is something we look forward to each race season.”
Guests were treated to a North Carolina-style BBQ lunch served with team owner Rick Hendrick’s favorite dessert, homemade strawberry shortcake, and also participated in a one hour, behind-the-scenes tour of Hendrick Motorsports facility including the chassis and engine facilities, as well as the 5/88 and 24/48 team shops.
After the tour, everyone was transferred to Charlotte Motor Speedway for pre-race activities to include pit tours, racing-related exhibits and a concert by the band Creed. Many attendees also tailgated with friends and family prior to making their way to the seats for the start of the evening races.
Mark Martin, driving the Delphi No. 5 Chevrolet for this event, delivered a strong performance before an accident in the final of four All-Star Race segments. At the time he was in fourth place.
