Wynn’s new Aircomatic A/C cleaning system is an ultrasonic machine that delivers a cleaning and deodorizing solution as a fine mist through a vehicle’s ventilation ducting, eliminating odours from the system as well as from carpets, headliner and upholstery. SSGM tested the Aircomatic system on a 1990 Audi A4.

The service machinery is a compact unit that operates on 115V AC power through a small transformer. Cleaning solution is added by inserting the sealed 3.3 ounce cleaner container into the top of the unit, and the outlet tube is inserted either through the under dash blend air door, or through the cowl vents. Once set up, the process runs automatically, taking about 15 minutes to complete. The service doesn’t require extensive training, and would be ideal for a detail bay or used car prep operation. At a suggested retail price of 74.95$ per service, the unit can generate a 4 to 18-week return on investment, based on up to 5 services sold per week, with an annual profit of over $12,000 at the 5-per-week level. Does it work? The vapour deodorizes without perfumes or masking aromas, although there is a noticeable difference in the in-car atmosphere in even a clean vehicle. At about $850, the Wynn’s Aircomatic A/C cleaning service system could be an entirely new profit centre, or a way to add value to existing HVAC service.
