It began with a simple request to Tadeo Sanchez. Could he look at a used car his friend was interested in purchasing? Being a licensed Class A technician, Sanchez could tell his friend whether the car was a good deal or a lemon.

It was this friend who suggested Sanchez turn his help into a business and soon after Sanchez started Lemon Proof, a service where Lemon Proof can inspect a used vehicle a customer is interested in purchasing or even go and find a used vehicle for someone who is pressed for time.

“There are so many things to look at in today’s vehicles and people today don’t have the time or knowledge to really (inspect) a car themselves,” Sanchez said. “I will go out to the car, whether the vehicle is at a dealership or in a private sale … and pretty much do a bumper-to-bumper inspection. What I look for is whether the car has been in an accident, how repairs have been done, how well the car has been looked after, that the engine and transmission work correctly and there are no problems.”

Lemon Proof offers customers two options: Option A will cost $80-$95 and includes as a 100+ point inspection done by a licensed Class A technician. The customer will be provided with a report of the findings as well as any recommended repairs or services needed; Option B is a procurement service which for $300, Lemon Proof will interview the customer and determine what vehicle best suits that customer’s needs. Lemon Proof will then locate and inspect up to three vehicles and provide a detailed report on each. Once a choice has been made by the customer, Lemon Proof will then certify, emission test and explain the steps required to register and plate the vehicle.
