CARS was very pleased to be invited to present two sessions at the recent conference of the Ontario School Counsellors’ Association.
The presentations provided an opportunity to inform counsellors’ about the repair and service industry, the types of businesses and occupations involved, as well as the skills and education required. CARS welcomed the opportunity to show counsellors an up-to-date image of the industry and the skills and attitudes needed to succeed.
Counsellors’ were also presented with information about the CARS Career Awareness products with an emphasis on the Educator’s Guide and the Industry Presentation Guide. Feedback was very positive about the learning activities contained in the Educator’s Guide. Participants were also glad to hear that industry would soon have access to a resource that would help them when invited to prepare and make presentations to students. The counsellors’ also commented that they appreciated hearing about both technical and non-technical industry career paths, as they weren’t aware of the variety of occupations in the industry.
The CARS Career Awareness products are still under development but will be available this winter (2002).
