BMW Active Steering was declared the winner of the “Best New Technology” award for 2004 by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). The award was announced during the opening ceremonies for the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto.

According to Jim Kenzie, president of the Canadian Car of the Year Awards, sponsored by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC), “a panel of technical experts review in detail each of the new technologies submitted for consideration by the car manufacturers. Judging is based on a combination of technical innovation and practicality.” The BMW Active Steering was considered to be not only technically innovative but potentially a prototype that will find wide spread use in other vehicles in the very near future.”
