Auto Value names new U.S. Tech of the Year

Auto Value’s U.S. technician of the year has been selected, joining Canadian winner Ryan Booker and Mexican winner Abelardo Portillo Alvarado  as the company’s top technicians in North America.

The U.S. winner, Jason Jackson of Automotive Excellence in California, was selected from other U.S. finalists nominated by shareholders of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance.

The finalists competed for the top spot during a four-day trip in Dearborn, Mich. July 15-18, hosted by Auto Value in partnership with DRiV. Booker and Portillo Alvarado were also invited on the trip, which included a trip to Greenfield Village, tours of the Ford Rouge Factory, lead-and-follow drives on the M1 Concourse race track, autocross, and thrill rides with expert drivers, and a dinner under a 1939 Douglass DC-3 at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation.

Booker, a technician at Driven Automotive in Regina, Sask. described the trip as fantastic.

“Talking to people from all over North America was an absolute blast,” he said. “Our hosts were friendly and their highest priority was our comfort. It’s awesome to see techs from all over the continent come together and share their experiences and learn new things.”
