Alternative Fuel Course Takes Award

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC), headquartered at West Virginia University, recently received a Training Excellence Award for its Overview of Biodiesel course.
The award is an established, well-respected indicator of training program quality and success and provides recognition for automotive/truck technical training programs deemed best of the best.
The Training Excellence Award is presented annually by the Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC), an organization of training professionals representing a wide range of automotive, heavy truck, and other related industry interests.
This year, the NAFTCs two-day Overview of Biodiesel course, which is also endorsed by the National Biodiesel Board, was recognized.
The course is taught by certified instructors and covers topics such as biodiesel blends, production, standards, and benefits/drawbacks in order to encourage the adoption of biodiesel. Since its inception in 2005, thousands have been trained from a variety of audiences including public interest groups, automotive technicians, employers, fleet operators, training institutions, and private entrepreneurs.
The NAFTCs mission is to provide the training infrastructure for implementing the widespread use of alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs), and advanced technology vehicles, as well as to increase the nations energy security and to improve air quality by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The Consortium consists of twenty-nine National Training Centers and more than 70 affiliate and associate members.
This network allows the Consortium to promote clean air and energy independence in several ways, including through its more than 20 courses and workshops.
