Colonial Group announced that Philip Murphy has retired after more than three decades with the company.
President and chief executive officer Douglas Squires announced Murphy’s departure last week, with his last day being August 15.
“It is bittersweet to make it official that Philip Murphy will be retiring this coming Friday after 33 years of dedicated service with the Colonial Group,” Squires’ email said.
Murphy’s time with Colonial eclipses Squires’ career with the company. Murphy began as an inventory manager and progressed through the company. He grew in the companies and his duties covered a wide range of operational positions, such as vendor negotiations, computers, labour negotiations, IT, incentive trip planning and more as Colonial’s vice president.
“Phil has been an invaluable and cherished member of our senior management group, and while we are disappointed to see him go, we are incredibly happy for him as he begins his new adventure with his wife and family,” Squires noted. “We are grateful for Philip’s leadership and guidance over the years. His impact on our team and company will be felt for years to come.
