Nissan Canada gives donation to Algonquin College

In an effort to address the skilled-trades shortage in the automotive industry, Nissan Canada Inc. and three Ottawa-area Nissan dealers announced a donation to the Algonquin College Foundation and the College’s Transportation Technology Centre.

Donations from Tony Graham Nissan, Walkley Nissan, 417 Nissan, and Nissan Canada total $150,000. The donations will go to the Foundation’s Transportation Technology Campaign and the establishment of the Nissan Canada Inc. Bursary, available to students in the College’s Motive Power Technician Program.

“This donation from Nissan Canada will help Algonquin College continue to address the automotive skilled-trades shortage,” said Algonquin College president Robert Gillett in a release announcing the donation. “Above all, at Algonquin College, we strive to address the career-training needs of our local community. Our partnerships with Nissan Canada will help Algonquin continue to provide quality instruction in areas that business and industry have identified as essential in today’s economy and provides our students with the skills they need to be job-ready upon graduation.”
