CASCAR and Peterborough Speedway…

CASCAR and Peterborough Speedway Announce Second Super Series Date

CASCAR and Peterborough Speedway have jointly announced that a second CASCAR Super Series Race will be held at Canada’s fastest 1/3 mile oval on Saturday, September 20th, 2003. The announcement comes after Peterborough Speedway owner J.P. Josiasse stepped up to host a Super Series race on June 7th. The event was a huge success for both the fans and the sponsors, and has lead to the scheduling of a second event at the popular race facility.

“We were delighted with the results of our June 7th CASCAR Super Series event,” stated Josiasse. “We had a tremendous crowd on hand and the CASCAR stars put on an amazing show, running over 100 laps of ultra-tight green flag racing right to the checkered flag. That tight, fast racing is what fans love about Peterborough Speedway, and watching Canada’s top oval track racers take to the challenge provides huge excitement. We are really looking forward to hosting a second CASCAR event in 2003.”

The CASCAR Super Series is currently in the most hectic section of its schedule. Having completed a face-off against NASCAR drivers at Cayuga 2000 Speedway, the teams took to the streets at the Molson Indy Toronto, then headed West for three consecutive weekends of racing that included Race City Motorsports Park in Calgary, and the Molson Indy Vancouver. Competing in four huge events in 5 weeks, with thousands of miles to travel in between, is as big a test for the teams as the racing itself. By the time the Super Series returns to Peterborough Speedway for the second last race of the season, the Championship battle will be at its most intense.

“We are very exited to add the second date at Peterborough Speedway,” said Richard Coughlin, CASCAR director of marketing. “J.P. and his team are a delight to work with, and the fans can always look forward to great racing excitement at Peterborough Speedway. The Super Series championship battle will be coming down to the wire when arrive at Peterborough Speedway, which will add even more drama to the event.”
