As vehicle doors have gotten heavier, the risk of injury to a technician manually removing or lifting them has grown. At the same time, the number of technicians needed to mount a door has also increased three to five people are often needed just to attach one door. Since these additional technicians have to be pulled away from other work, overall shop productivity is reduced. To help protect technicians backs and make it possible for a single person to remove and mount vehicle doors and body panels, Rotary has introduced the Door Adapter for its MW5 Battery Powered Mobile Productivity Lift. The door adapter enables technicians to raise, lower and locate to the vehicle complete door panels and body panels weighing up to 130 lbs. without physical strain or vehicle damage. Rubber-coated contact points prevent paint scratches. The lightweight lift sits on rotating casters and is powered by a double lithium battery that provides up to 100 lifting cycles per charge. The lift features two parking brakes to keep it from moving when in use. The door adapter can be interchanged on the Mobile Productivity Lift with the wheel adapter Rotary introduced in 2003. The wheel adapter will remove, lift and position wheels up to 130 lbs. By minimizing physical effort, correct alignment of body assemblies is ensured. The MW5 Battery Powered Mobile Productivity Lift was designed to help technicians be more efficient, productive and injury-free, says Ron Lainhart, Rotary parts and service manager. With the introduction of the door adapter, this tool can now assist more technicians on a greater number of jobs. It is portable, making it possible to roll the productivity lift anywhere in or around the shop for maximum versatility. Stability is provided by a low center of gravity and the four casters.
