Ottawa roundtable to discuss pre-apprenticeship programs

Following the annual general meeting of the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum in Ottawa on Oct. 18, there will be a pre-apprenticeship roundtable.

Th discussion will discuss the unique challenges and opportunities of pre-apprenticeship programs, and is intended to gain insights from both pre-apprentices and employers.

The roundtable will particularly concentrate on recent CAF-FCA research and survey findings from the Apprentices in Canada ePanel.

Topics of discussion will include:

* the value of pre-apprenticeship programs to youth and under-represented groups;

* the drawbacks associated with existing programs; and

* how to better connect pre-apprentices with registered apprenticeships offered by skilled trades employers

CAF-FCA members enjoy complimentary registration. Non-members pay a nominal fee of $100 for the session.
