The Colonial Group has named Stephen Squires as vice president of both Colonial Auto Parts and APM Limited, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the Atlantic Canada automotive aftermarket parts supplier.
Squires, who joined the company in July 2022 as manager of special projects, takes over the role following the retirement of longtime vice president Philip Murphy. He will now take on many of Murphy’s former responsibilities and join the Colonial Group’s executive management team, operating out of the company’s head office in St. John’s.
Squires holds dual bachelor’s degrees in commerce – cooperative and French, and is a chartered professional accountant. He is also the great-grandson of Gordon Elton, the founder of Colonial Garage and represents the fourth generation of family leadership.
The Colonial Group, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, includes 20 locations across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador and has more than 150 employees.
