New Philips SafeRide LED BikeLight 80 Revolutionizes Nighttime Cycling

Philips Automotive Lighting North America has introduced a new high tech bike light that incorporates advanced automotive lighting technology to deliver one of the brightest, longest, and most powerful beams of light available to cyclists. The Philips SafeRide LED BikeLight 80 is built with the same new generation high-power Philips LUXEON® Rebel LEDs used by leading car manufacturers. These LEDs produce a brilliant white light with a color temperature of 5,500K, giving cyclists seven times more light than standard bike lights. The Philips SafeRide LED BikeLight 80 innovative technology provides cyclists with more security on the road, day and night.

Philips uses two LUXEON Rebel LEDs in the new bike light to create a light output of up to 80 lux (1,000 lumens) and produce a beam that is more than 195 ft. long. The Philips SafeRide LED BikeLight 80 also incorporates a high-performance reflector that creates uniform lighting with powerful foreground illumination and an extra wide 50º illumination zone. The LEDs also offer a significantly longer service life and durability than conventional light sources.

The Philips SafeRide LED BikeLight 80 comes with a handlebar mount that allows for quick installation and removal. The LED BikeLight mounts within minutes and can be easily moved from one bike to another. It comes with four rechargeable/replaceable batteries, which are chargeable via a USB connector, which is also supplied with the light. The LED BikeLight is very lightweight and features a rugged, waterproof, brushed aluminum housing that is available in a choice of black or silver.

The LED BikeLight also features a dual-power mode, which allows the rider to adjust light intensity depending on the riding situation. In the economy mode, the rider can expect a battery life of up to eight hours. The high power mode has a battery life of up to two hours.
