Uni-Select and Acklands-Grainger Join Forces

Uni-Select, Canada’s second largest distributor of automotive and heavy-duty replacement parts, and Acklands-Grainger, Canada’s leading distributor of industrial, fleet and safety supply products, have announced that they will combine Uni-Select’s Western division and Acklands-Grainger’s automotive aftermarket division, operating as Bumper to Bumper, into a joint venture.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.
Uni-Select and Acklands-Grainger each will have a 50% stake in the new company, which will be managed by Uni-Select.
In addition, the companies will combine their distinctive product offerings and trademarks, which include Uni-Select’s Auto Parts Plus and Auto Plus, as well as Acklands-Grainger’s Bumper to Bumper automotive division. Annual revenues for the new company are expected to be $120 million.
"We are delighted to partner with Acklands-Grainger in this most exciting venture," said Jacques Landreville, president and chief executive officer, Uni-Select. "The combination of our operational skills with Acklands-Grainger’s in-depth knowledge of the Western Canadian market will result in a much stronger organization."
"We are excited about our new joint venture with Uni-Select," says Douglas J. Harrison, president, Acklands-Grainger. "We believe the synergies between the two companies will help enhance overall service to our automotive aftermarket customers, providing them with fast and convenient solutions to their needs."
