General Motors of Canada Oshawa Car Plant #2 placed first overall among all assembly plants in North America in the 2002 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study released today, winning the Gold Plant Quality Award. The Oshawa-built Buick Century won first in the premium mid-size segment.
Michael Grimaldi, president of GM Canada said, “This is a significant day for General Motors, GM Canada and the GM Autoplex in Oshawa. GM was the Highest Quality Domestic Manufacturer, placing among the Top 3 full-line manufacturers in this prestigious quality study.”
Grimaldi added, “All GM Canada employees and the CAW are focused on producing top quality products for our customers. I want to congratulate them and the entire Oshawa Plant #2 team on earning the Gold Plant Quality Award. GM Canada’s plants have earned a reputation in the industry as some of the highest quality and most productive plants in North America. It is very gratifying to know that the buyers of our cars and trucks are telling us through J.D. Power that they recognize our tremendous improvements in quality.”
