Ed Coates, Founder Lordco Auto Parts


Ed Coates, founder and owner of B.C. auto parts chain Lordco Auto Parts, has passed away suddenly at the age of 65.

Coates was regarded as a leader in the Canadian automotive aftermarket and his Lordco Auto Parts is the dominant player in the British Columbia market, with some 100 stores serving retail and wholesale customers. The business is set to mark its 40th anniversary this year.

Coates was honoured with the Automotive Industries Association of Canada’s Distinguished Service Award in 2011, as an active member of the industry. Most recently, he served as the mentor guest at the Young Executives Society Conference.

He is survived by his mother – Shirley; wife Marlyn, daughter Samantha, daughter Sarah (Garret), son Ian (Erin), daughter Candace (Brian); grandkids Natalie, Brooklyn, Dylan, Sydney, Josh, Harper and Delaney; Brother Dave (Carol), Sister Chick (John); Sister Evelyn (Don); Brother Doug (Lornie), several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
