Delphi Introduces Parts and Tools…

Delphi Introduces Parts and Tools for Vehicle Electronics Repair

Delphi, a major supplier of ECM/PCM units to OEMs around the world, has announced several additions to its automotive aftermarket lineup, focusing on engine controls and tools for technicians.
Delphi’s remanufactured Engine Control Module (ECM) and Powertrain Control Modules (PCM) line of 66 part numbers is now available for many car and light truck OBD II applications across model years 1996 through 2005. The product line will be expanded later this spring to include additional models and coverage for OBDI (1990 1995) control module applications.
Delphi also announces immediate availability of its J2534 ECM Flash Tool to provide extremely user-friendly on-board or off-board programming of ECM/PCMs for GM, Ford and Chrysler applications.
A unique wizard feature simplifies and speeds the flash process, as well as providing important relearn capabilities. The system is capable of also accomplishing on-vehicle engine control module programming for Toyota applications. With optional scan tool software integration, the Delphi J2534 Flash Tool can be used as a fully bi-directional enhanced scan device.
A wireless-to-the-PC option enables use of any in-place shop. The tool will help technicians complete repairs to ECMs and PCMs.
“Engine and powertrain control modules are at the very heart of the vehicle’s interrelated electronic systems, and having access to true OE-quality remanufactured units is vitally important to the independent service channel,” said Frank Ordonez, president, Delphi Product & Service Solutions and vice president, Delphi Corporation.
Delphi’s Electronics and Safety division manufactures 34,000 new ECM/PCM units per day in nine manufacturing plants globally. Since the introduction of engine electronics in the late 1970s, Delphi has produced 189 million units. Delphi was at the forefront in the beginning of this under-the-hood electronic revolution and is proud to still lead the way in offering leading edge powertrain electronics.
Delphi is leveraging the company’s global OE engine management heritage, including expertise in vehicle architecture, systems and component requirements, customized integrated circuit design and manufacturing, on-board diagnostics and software integration to provide high quality remanufactured product to the aftermarket.
“Delphi’s reman process utilizes the latest production validated components and full functional testing to meet OE specifications,” said Mark Shasteen, vice president global manufacturing, Delphi Product & Service Solutions. “Our Reman ECM/PCM products will be remanufactured with the same high quality standards that OE customers have come to associate with the Delphi brand.”
The ECM/PCM offering features late model coverage and will be supported by a special technical assistance hotline to address diagnostic questions through Delphi’s Service Solutions team.
