Each year we go to great lengths to seek out the very best of the frontline workers in the Canadian automotive aftermarket and this year Darcy Turton of Automotive Parts Distributors (APD), a Uni-Select member in Saskatoon, Sask., earned this recognition.
Some of the key characteristics that make a good counterperson include extensive product knowledge, good rapport with clients, and the tireless ability to go that extra mile on a daily, and sometimes hourly, basis. Well, according to the numerous customers who recommended him for this award, Darcy Turton lives up to this standard and then some.
“I have called and asked for Darcy for years. I find he has a knack for finding the parts I need the fastest. He has a great approach to sourcing parts for me when needed,” says Rod Janzen of OK Tire in Saskatoon.
“There is no other man I would rather have answer the phone on those mornings where everything seems to be against you. Darcy always manages to bring a satisfying smile to my face as the service and consistency are impeccable,” says Andrew of RA Auto Repair.
“His customer service level is unmatched,” agrees Dave Bomersbach, warehouse manager of ADP’s Saskatoon branch. “His knowledge of the industry is exceptional, and he really delivers with everyone on everything. I am always impressed by how much more he gets done. He knows more than most people and his rapport with clients is terrific.”
Turton is also APD’s in-house tech. “He knows so much about the automotive industry and he can talk to techs and understand exactly what their needs are,” says Bomersbach. “He does a really great job and I’m glad he is being recognized nationally.”
